Volunteer work is an essential part of our organization. Involving the community is part of expanding our work and sharing our experiences with more people. We find the work at Wind River to be rewarding to the dogs and all of the people included. If you have any interest in volunteering, please contact us and we would love to discuss opportunities to get involved.
We have volunteer opportunities for the Wildlife/Bear Dog side of the organization as well as training.
We have an urgent need for volunteers to assess shelter dogs!
If you live anywhere in the state of Montana and would be interested and willing to visit shelters/rescues to assess dogs’ suitability as service dog candidates, we want you! Our program would not be possible without the availability of shelters and rescues. However, due to our limited ability to travel, we have a great need for dog lovers to visit potential dog candidates throughout the state!
You do NOT need a strong background in dog behavior to perform these assessments. We will provide you with a copy of our temperament assessment and clear instructions on how to conduct it. Please message us if you are interested!
WORK HARD & PLAY HARD.

We rely on the help of our hardworking volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. We are looking for volunteers for ranch and dog care chores, maintenance and repair (fixing fence, etc.) office and organizational assistance, dog walking, photography, dog play group monitoring, and even assisting our trainers while out on lessons. Please fill out the form to the right if you would like to get involved!
